McCaskey lists homecoming court -

J.P. McCaskey High School will celebrate homecoming with a football game against Cedar Crest at 7 p.m. today and the introduction of the homecoming queen and king candidates.

The announcement of the queen and king for 2009 will be made during halftime of the football game at Barney Ewell Stadium.

Members of the homecoming court are :

Gabriel Pruitt, Yamilette Alvarez, Gregory Toussaint, Marelly Guzman, Omar Garcia, Alexandra Hudson, Erik Ballard, Bryana Byrd, Evan Hargrove, Jannelle Sanchez, Quichon Walker, Leonda Newbold-Washington, Virgil Nelson, Marena Mehany and Anthony Ayala.

Gabriel, 18, is the son of Michelle Pruitt. He represents
the arts and humanities small learning community and has a 2.0 GPA. He competes as a member of the track and field team.

Yamilette, 17, is the daughter of Manuel and Yamilett Alvarez. She represents the health careers SLC with a GPA of 3.7. She plans to earn a college degree and attend graduate school to become a chiropractor.

Gregory, 18, is the son of Wadmine Garcis and also represents the health careers SLC. Gregory has a 2.8 GPA and competes on the McCaskey football and basketball teams. He plans to go to college
for surgical technology and also pursue a musical career.

Marelly, 17, is the daughter of Clarisa Torres and Efrain Santiago. Marelly represents the McCaskey Institute of Technology SLC and has a 2.4 GPA. She participates in volleyball and softball at McCaskey. She plans to attend Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology for engineering or architectural design.

Omar, 17, is the son of Julie Garcia. He represents the McCaskey Institute of Technology SLC and has a 2.0 GPA. He participates in senior council and is a co-founder of Iron Man Fitness. He is studying culinary arts at York Technical Institute and plans to attend college.

Alexandra, 18, is the daughter of Yvette and Larry Hudson. With a GPA of 4.31, Allie is the nominee of the IB honors SLC. Her activities include cheerleading captain, track, secretary of AIM, the Vidette, Ski Club, National Honors Society, International French Honors Society and Powder Puff Football. She won eight performing arts scholarships in New York City and plans to study biological sciences at the University of Pittsburgh. She hopes to become a surgeon.

Erik, 17, is the son of Rhonda Strosser and Odis Ballard. He is the nominee of the IB Honors SLC, with a GPA of 3.06. Erik competes on the soccer and volleyball teams. He plans to attend college and pursue a writing career.

Bryana, 17, is the daughter of Pamela and Bryant Byrd. She is the representative for the media studies and communication SLC and is a member of the McCaskey field hockey team. Also, she is a member of gospel choir, vocal ensemble, student government and senior council. Bryana plans to attend Lincoln University and major in communication. She wants to pursue a career in broadcasting.

Evan, 18, is the son of Kurt and Sheila Hargrove. He represents
the media studies and communications SLC. Evan is involved in the Gear UP and Partnership programs, Lancaster Weed and Seed, Black Student Union and is a member of the Sherman and Kathlyn Hill Boys and GirlsClub. Evan plans to attend a four year college to major in sports management.

Jannelle, 18, is the daughter of Alejandra Casado. She is the nominee of the public leadership SLC. Jannelle performs with the worship team at her church, FLCC, is the president of the McCaskey Bible Club and is a vocalist in the rap group 4-Trinity. She plans to attend college and pursue a master’s degree in family and marriage counseling.

Quichon, 18, is the son of Michelle Walker. He represents the public leadership SLC and has a 2.9 GPA. Quichon competes in McCaskey’s cross country and winter and spring track programs. He also participates in the National Young Leader Conference. Quichon wants to attend a college with a Division I sports programs and continue on to law school.

Leonda, 17, is the daughter of Ninivar Washington. She represents the technical and business SLC and earned a 2.7 GPA. She works at Conestoga View nursing home and volunteers at St. Joseph Church and Milagro House. She hopes to attend Delaware State College, major in business and pursue a career as a paralegal.

Virgil, 17, is the son of Reneta and Virgil Nelson. He represents the technical and business SLC. He plans to attend University of Kentucky.Marena, 20, is the daughter of Safwat Abadir and Gohan
Gobrill. She represents the school-to-work program and earned a GPA of 3.64. She plans to become a teacher’s aide.

Anthony, 17, is the son of Jose Diaz-Vega and Hilda Diaz-Vega. He represents the school-to-work program and earned a GPA of 3.5.
